Somatic Osteopathy

Awaken your gut–brain connection by releasing stored physical, chemical and emotional stress.

Back to Manual Therapies

Somatic Osteopathy connects directly to the nervous system so the body can release blockages along the spine, restoring energy flow and supporting the body's innate ability to heal.

Somatic Osteopathy — introduction.Dr Sundardas introduces Somatic Osteopathy and how it works with the nervous system.

Awaken your gut–brain connection

If you are struggling with your physical or mental health, a build-up of physical, chemical and emotional stress in your body may be the reason why.

When your body cannot process these stresses, a blockage is created in the spine. Over time, this will lead to pain, disease and illness. Even though it doesn't feel good, we must remember that our bodies are made to heal by design.

In Somatic Osteopathy, we connect directly to the nervous system so the body can release blockages and allow more energy to flow through you.

Now, you're able to feel more connected, calmer, and your body can begin to heal from whatever the symptom. We work directly with the root of the problem.

Are you ready to remove the external interference and reconnect to its healthy self?

The 7 Stations of Vital Force

Somatic Osteopathy maps stress and blockages held in the body to seven stations along the spine — from the coccyx to the cranium. Each station corresponds to a region of nerve supply, a cluster of physical symptoms and a felt-sense pattern. Working with these stations helps release what is stored so vital force can move freely again.

Cranium — Station 7Head, brain and cranial nervesLow energy; spaciness, dizziness; memory issues and brain fogYou don't have enough life force or energy. You can feel disconnected and living life separate and alone.

Group Sessions

Somatic Osteopathy is also offered in small group sessions at the clinic, where several participants are worked with in turn while the group settles into a shared, regulated state. Call 6323 6652 or email admin@naturaltherapies.com to register for the next session.

Transcript: Group treatment

The session opens with participants lying comfortably on treatment tables in the clinic room, shoes off, eyes closed, breathing slowly as the room settles.

Dr Sundardas moves from person to person, beginning with a light cranial hold — hands resting at the base of the skull — waiting for the tissue and nervous system to soften rather than forcing movement.

He then works along the spine, following the seven stations of vital force, using gentle contact at the sacrum, lower back and mid-back to release held patterns of tension.

Participants are encouraged to notice sensation, warmth, breath or emotion as it arises, without needing to analyse it. Practitioners check in quietly between holds.

The session closes with a period of stillness so the body can integrate the work, followed by slow re-orientation — moving fingers and toes, opening the eyes, and sitting up gradually.

Group sessions are educational and supportive in nature and are not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.
